Identifying simple machines

We met with Room 12 again today to discuss simple machines.  We watched a great video that started to explain to us some of the different simple machines we might not have recognised yesterday.  

We looked around the classroom and then the school and playground. Ask us about levers, wheels, inclined planes, wedges, screws... we can tell you all about them!

Inquiry!

Today we had our first session of Inquiry with Room 12.  We had a very interesting first introductory session establishing what we know and understand about machines, here are some pics of us working hard.  More to follow....

Colour Mixing

We have started a visual art unit on colour mixing.
Our learning intentions have been to:

• Identify the three  primary colours
• Create a secondary colour from mixing two primary colours
• State which primary colours need to be mixed to create the 3 secondary colours.

Here the class is mixing and painting to make and visual display.

Writing Wizard !

Room 17 are learning about giving feedback on ours and each others' writing.  This can be from a buddy, from the teacher or from our peers.  We give 2 stars and a wish to the lucky reader who gets to wear the Writing Wizard costume and share their work for the class.

Noah was chosen to be our Writing Wizard yesterday, our writing topic was to decide whether you wanted to be an eagle or a butterfly.  We were all blown away by his use of descriptive language and excellent story structure.

Well done Noah!

Team Work!

We had a great day today establishing routines, catching up on our holiday news and doing some team building exercises to remind ourselves about looking after each other and working together.
Here we are all sitting on each other's knees forming a perfect circle.

What an amazing class Room 17 are, Mr Robertson has done an amazing job encouraging positivity and great work habits.
